Team Wisconsin Basketball

Congratulations to Taylor Hodell, 6'4 C from DC Everest High School and Team Wisconsin Select Black on signing to the NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University.  Taylor turned down several NCAA Division I offers.  Northern Michigan is part of the GLIAC Conference, and has a long history of Team Wisconsin players.  They are currently led by Team Wisconsin alum Alyssa Colla.

Taylor is leading DC Everest to a #2 ranking in Division I.  She is a 1st Team All Conference, MVP of the Wisconsin Valley, and an All State player.  Taylor has developed herself as not only an offensive threat but as a great defensive stopper.

Interview with Taylor: 

Which school have you decided to attend and why?

I have decided to attend Northern Michigan University because of the medical and athletic facilities they have to offer, the chemistry I had with the players, and the overall atmosphere of the campus and community.

 What other schools did you consider?

Towards the very end I considered and narrowed down the schools to Evansville, Cornell, Tennessee State, South Dakota State, St. Cloud and Oral Roberts.

What are your goals for the 2014-2015 school season?

My goals are to repeat as Conference Champs and to advance to the state tournament as this has been our team’s dream since we were in 4th grade.

How long have you played in the Team Wisconsin program?

I played for Team for Wisconsin for two seasons.

What were the benefits of playing with Team Wisconsin?

I was able to learn a lot of new things with the knowledgeable and caring coaches I had.  The experience and excitement I had playing against some incredible teams and performing in front of college coaches was awesome and really helped improve my game. And the friendships I made along the way with my teammates is something that will always stay with me.

What was your favorite Team Wisconsin memory/experience (on or off the court) and why?

My favorite on the court my memory would be when we beat  North Tartan Nike Elite at the North Tartan meltdown. Everyone kept saying how amazing they were and how they were expected to win the whole tournament and were taking votes on who could get the closest to beating them.

My favorite off the court memory is when we were in Chicago and we walked to Portillo’s and got to see a the heart of the City and just hang as teammates.

What advice do you have for younger basketball players.

Be as dynamic as possible; practice shooting and dribbling with both hands, stay positive and don’t ever give up on yourself.
